The Challenge
OpenStreetMap US needed a way to train new mappers without risking vandalism or poor-quality edits to the main OSM database. They required an isolated replica of the OSM stack that could be easily reset.
Our Solution
We deployed a complete, containerized replica of the OpenStreetMap API (Rails port) and rendering stack. We implemented automated scripts to reset the database periodically, providing a clean slate for each training cohort. The system runs on a cost-effective cloud infrastructure managed via Terraform.
